JAMES KERNAN is a founding partner of Kernan & Henry. He has practiced law in Connecticut since his admission to the bar in 1971. He holds a personal "AV"® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating that a lawyer can attain through their peer review rating system.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Attorney Kernan is board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. As a specialist in civil trial practice he has advocated the cause of his clients in a wide variety of cases, including personal injury, estate litigation, insurance matters and business disputes. He has dedicated his professional life to achieving the best possible results for each client in each case.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Attorney Kernan has been appointed by the Chief Court Administrator of the State of Connecticut as a Connecticut Attorney Trial Referee and Attorney Arbitrator. He has also been appointed by the Administrative Judge for the Hartford Judicial District to serve on the Hartford Judicial District Grievance Panel. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar (1971), U.S. District Court (1974), U.S. Court of Appeals (1986), and U.S. Supreme Court (1992). He is a member of the Advocates Society of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, Waterbury Bar Association , Connecticut Bar Association and is a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Mr. Kernan has served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Highfield Club. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Boys Club, and as District Chairman of the Boy Scouts

HOBBIES
Cycling, swimming, skiing, golf, post graduate courses (Wesleyan Graduate School of Liberal Studies, NYU School of Law).

PERSONAL
Born January 27, 1947 Waterbury, CT. Educated in local schools and at Boston College (AB, 1968) and George Washington University (JD with honors, 1971). Married with two children.
