DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS

Under Connecticut law, a seller of a defective product may be responsible for injuries caused by the product. The product may be an automobile, a floor tile, a machine, or a variety of other products. Product Liability claims may arise from work accidents, construction accidents, automobile accidents, slip and fall events or other incidents.

Multiple parties are sometimes named as defendants in a Products Liability case, as each seller of a defective product may be implicated. Thus, if a product was defective when manufactured and has then been sold to a wholesaler and retailer before reaching the consumer all such parties may be named as defendants. It must be proven that the product was not materially altered from the time of sale until reaching the consumer.

Often, products liability claims require the retention of one or more experts. A product may be defective as a result of improper manufacture or assembly or as a design defect.
